To achieve a satisfactory step bending result, it is necessary to perform certain calculations, which however require knowledge of several key parameters related to the bending process, such as:
- Arc length – the distance between the ends of the curved part of the sheet, measured along the inner side of the bend;
- Number of bends – the number of individual bends that must be performed to obtain the required bending radius; the greater the number of bends, the smaller the angle of each one and the smoother the curve;
- Distance between bends – the distance between each bend performed during the process.
Although the entire step bending process may seem quite complex, the machines and software available from CORMAK are advanced enough to relieve the operator of many such tasks.
