Refrigeration air dryers

Refrigeration air dryers are essential components in every compressed air system, ensuring high air quality by effectively removing moisture. Water present in a pneumatic installation can lead to corrosion, damage to tools and machinery, and a decrease in the quality of the final product. The operation of our air dryers is based on cooling compressed air to the dew point, which causes the water vapour to condense and then be automatically drained. We offer refrigeration dryers with various flow rates and operating pressures, matched to the performance of any compressor. Our units are characterised by high energy efficiency, reliability, and ease of installation and use. Using a CORMAK refrigeration air dryer is an investment in longer system life and stable, efficient production processes.

What are refrigeration air dryers?

An air dryer for a compressor is used in many industrial sectors. It is essential wherever pneumatic tools and equipment are at risk of damage caused by moisture in the air system.

A refrigeration air dryer removes water and vapour from the compressed air, enabling smooth and failure-free compressor operation. Any moisture in the compressed air lines can cause corrosion, freezing of external pipes, and ultimately damage to the entire system.

An air dryer for compressors protects against these effects, offering key benefits such as:

  • preventing costly downtime in production,

  • reducing maintenance costs of pneumatic components.

The CORMAK refrigeration air dryer features a cooling system designed to automatically adjust its cooling capacity depending on the load and air temperature. This is achieved with variable-speed fan technology, ensuring optimal energy efficiency and precise temperature control throughout the drying process.

How does an air dryer work?

The air-drying process takes place in two main stages to guarantee effective air treatment for industrial use.

In the first stage, compressed air is passed through an air-to-air heat exchanger. There, it is cooled in a counterflow system using the colder air leaving the evaporator. This pre-cooling step reduces the temperature before the main cooling stage, increasing overall efficiency.

In the second stage, the air enters the evaporator where it is further cooled by the refrigerant to the dew point temperature. This causes condensation of nearly all water and oil particles in the air. The cooled air then passes through a high-performance separator that removes the condensate, which is automatically drained from the system.

After condensate removal, the clean air is reheated in the heat exchanger. This step reduces its relative humidity, helping to prevent condensation in downstream applications.
