To achieve a satisfactory step bending effect, it is necessary to perform certain calculations that require knowledge of several key parameters related to the bending process – these are:

      • Arc length – the distance between the ends of the curved part of the sheet, measured along the inner side of the bend;
      • Number of bends – the number of individual bends required to obtain a curved sheet with a specific radius; the greater the number of bends, the smaller the single bend angle, resulting in a smoother curve;
      • Distance between bends – the distance between individual bends made during the process.

Although the entire step bending process may seem quite complex, the machines and software available from CORMAK are so advanced that they largely relieve the operator of these calculations.
