To achieve a satisfactory result in step bending, certain calculations must be made, which require knowledge of several key parameters related to the bending process – these include:

      • Arc length – the distance between the ends of the curved section of the sheet, measured along the inner side of the bend;
      • Number of bends – the number of individual bends required to obtain a curved sheet with a specific radius; the greater the number of bends, the smaller the angle of each bend, resulting in a smoother arc;
      • Distance between bends – the spacing between individual bends made during the process.

Although the entire step bending process may seem quite complex, CORMAK machines and software are so advanced that they completely relieve the operator of many tasks.
