Extractor Characteristics
Laser processing is a clean and safe method for material treatment, yet it generates hazardous fumes and dust. These are particularly harmful as they contain heavy metals that can accumulate in the human body. Besides posing health risks, laser fumes and dust negatively affect the quality of work — both for the operator and for the machines, which can be damaged by contamination. Laser-generated residues tend to adhere strongly to machine surfaces. Moreover, if key laser system parts such as mirrors or lenses become contaminated, they may suffer irreversible damage.
Extraction and filtration systems are key components of any laser installation. They must be not only reliable but also tailored to specific working conditions. Their main task is to ensure safe removal and, when necessary, filtration of fumes and dust. Such systems protect operators and maintain laser lenses in clean condition, preserving their performance and lifespan while reducing unpleasant odours during operation.
The filtration process of laser gases and dust occurs in several stages. First, a coarse-particle filter is used, followed by a fine-particle filter made of polyester material in a metal frame, effectively removing up to 90% of dust and small particles from the extracted air. The cleaned air is then released back into the workspace.
Main functions of the fume and filtration system in laser processing:
- Removal and neutralisation of laser fumes.
- Ensuring operator safety at the laser workstation and in its surroundings.
- Extending the lifespan of laser systems by keeping them clean and protecting key components from contamination.
Key Advantages of the LDC-2L Extractor:
The extractor features automatic filter cleaning using compressed air. Under pressure, the filter is “shaken off”, effectively cleaning the cartridge and extending its service life. This keeps the system efficient for longer periods.
The filtration element used in the system is imported and made from high-quality material. The fire-resistant Nano-type filter provides high filtration performance, retaining particles as small as 0.3 μm with an efficiency of over 99.9%.
A large dust collection drawer allows convenient removal and cleaning, simplifying system maintenance.
The motors used in the system are equipped with overload protection, ensuring a high level of safety and reliable operation.
A specially designed high-performance fan wheel generates strong negative pressure, enabling effective fume extraction and high airflow efficiency.
The overall filtration efficiency of the system reaches 0.3 μm, with effectiveness exceeding 99.9%, demonstrating excellent capability in removing harmful airborne particles. The compact design also facilitates operation and maintenance.
