Laser machining is a process in which a laser is used to process materials. This is a relatively safe and hygienic method. However, this process generates dangerous fumes and dust that contain heavy metals that are harmful to human health. Additionally, smoke and dust negatively affect the quality of work and may damage machines due to contamination.
To deal with these problems, extraction and filtering systems are essential in any laser installation. Their main task is to safely remove smoke and dust, and, if necessary, also to filter these substances. These systems provide safe working conditions for operators and keep laser lenses clean to maintain efficiency and minimize unpleasant odors during laser processing.
The filtration process of laser gases and dust takes place in several stages. First, a filter for larger particles is used, and then a filter for finer particles, made of polyester in a metal frame, effectively removes up to 90% of dust and particles from the sucked air. The last stage is an active carbon filter, which, thanks to a special carbon composition, cleans the air of unwanted substances such as heavy metals and toxic chemicals. The carbon surface in the filter acts like a sponge, effectively removing harmful contaminants, after which clean air is released into the room.
